Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time professional experience working in communications, marketing and/or public relations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration or related field. Additional years (3+) of full-time professional experience working in communications, marketing and/or public relations. Experience working in a higher education setting. Experience with digital marketing and communications strategies. Experience in managing social media and creating content for digital platforms such as websites and blogs. Video production experience. Understanding of effective graphic design, branding principles, and marketing. Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience supervising student staff. Experience interacting with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Health, Wellness and Prevention Services (SHWPS), the Coordinator of Marketing and Communications for SHWPS will assist in leading the Marketing and Communications initiatives for SHWPS to highlight and promote the high quality and compassionate medical, mental health and wellness services that support our students' well-being and academic achievement. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of all marketing and communication efforts (digital and print communications) for all departments within Student Health, Wellness and Prevention Services designed to further their goals and objectives.
The successful incumbent will have excellent writing abilities with demonstrated experience writing feature stories, social media and web copy, publications or other promotional content. They will have experience working as a member of a team in a dynamic environment and working with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and tact and have experience effectively multi-tasking in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- The incumbent will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications for Student Affairs, build a collaborative relationship with other marketing staff within Student Affairs, and will serve as a member of the Student Affairs Marketing and Communications workgroup. Coordinate all marketing and promotional needs for SHWPS, assist in the development and execution of an annual marketing plan, utilizing metrics to analyze performance and evaluate success. Create content to support SHWPS' communications and marketing efforts including departmental communications, print materials, social media posts, videos, etc. Ensure content conforms to University publishing policies, editorial style, organization and appropriateness and message continuity, design, and tone for digital and print publications.
- Work collaboratively with all SHWPS staff. Coordinate the design and production of marketing collateral materials, merchandising items, and website design and updates to ensure compliance with University and Student Affairs branding guidelines. Oversee SHWPS' digital channels including social media platforms focusing on highlighting health, wellness and prevention services. Assist the CRAFT's Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications to implement improvements to web and social media based on data provided in analytics reports.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of responses to media inquiries and identify opportunities for media coverage that highlight SHWPS' programs and initiatives. Coordinate with all SHWPS departments to identify newsworthy stories, video and photo opportunities to promote a lasting positive impact on the health and well-being of all Stony Brook students.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulation that all hospitals and nursing homes "continuously require all personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19," Candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of acceptance of conditional job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. Candidates who are partially vaccinated, but not yet fully vaccinated, must complete their vaccination series within three (3) calendar days of job offer or in accordance with vaccine manufacture protocol, whichever comes later.
