Position Summary
Columbia Business School is embarking on an ambitious new era. Driving the future of business education and scholarship, the School recently moved to our Manhattanville campus, a bold, one-of-a-kind set of facilities designed for innovation and collaboration.
The Director of Digital Marketing and Technology is an important part of our digital transformation, serving as the liaison between the marketing/communications group and Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) group. Reporting into the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Director will develop digital solutions that help the School achieve its strategic goals.
The Director will work together with CUIT on defining and implementing the marketing tech stack and will also manage the website, including content, structure, functionality, design, and analytics. Additionally, this role will oversee digital marketing campaigns and manage paid marketing efforts, including budget management, campaign strategy, and digital infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Deliver creative marketing and technology solutions to help achieve CBS??? strategic goals, including those related to enrollment, thought leadership, student experience, content development, and brand marketing. Translate marketing needs into technical features and leverage CUIT???s technical capabilities to inform marketing strategies and solutions.
- Work closely with CMO to develop a short- and long-term roadmap to support paid and organic digital marketing endeavors, new user functionality, and larger digital ecosystem.
- Develop a digital culture, enhance audience experience through digital sites and applications, and developing and promoting an online presence through web-based marketing and mobile or social applications.
- Serve as the liaison between marketing and CUIT, overseeing the website from the marketing side, including the content migration, design and structure, user journey and functionality, copy and imagery, and analytics
- Partner with CUIT on the tech stack for the marketing team and oversee the exploration, evaluation, implementation, and optimization of marketing tools and services. Deliver marketing requirements and solutions in a variety of areas, including ESP, CRM, Audience Segmentation, DMP, DSP, Social Media, Content, CRM, SEO, analytics/dashboards, and Identity spaces.
- Manage a team of digital content and project management experts, develop and maintain close relationships with CUIT, internal stakeholders across divisions and functions, and external vendors and contractors.
- Work with CUIT on reporting and analytics infrastructure, developing insights to inform overall digital strategy, and providing regular reports on website traffic, content consumption, and user behavior. Also responsible for overseeing reporting for paid and organic social media efforts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the marketing and technology landscape, including new products/services/ platforms, trends/shifts in audience behavior, and overall market intelligence.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor???s degree required. Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience required, preferably in marketing, technology and/or website operations.
Must have proven ability to lead complex marketing and technology projects. Experienced with website, email, social, CRM, content management, and mobile platforms. Demonstrated expertise using marketing automation platforms, Google Analytics, and business intelligence software/tools. Knows the digital marketing landscape well and has successfully run organic and paid campaigns across mediums. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a team player with a passion for excellence. Must be detailed oriented, self-starter who anticipates opportunities and challenges, works well under deadlines and pressure, and can adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends required.
