TU, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is accepting applications for an Athletics Marketing & Engagement Manager. This position serves to increase the awareness of the athletics department on-campus and within the Greater Baltimore region and beyond through marketing and engagement initiatives with the goal of increasing ticket sales and attendance. Plans and executes inspiring and comprehensive marketing and engagement strategy, oversees game day experience & environment. Synchronizes engagement plan with overall revenue generation plans by including community partners, student-groups, sponsors, donors, alumni, season-ticket holders, groups, and faculty & staff. Integrates band, spirit groups and other student-led groups into game day experience. Oversees in-game production contractor. Activates in-game promotions in collaboration with our sponsorship partner. Collaborates with all other external units within the department and on campus. Manages student and volunteer staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Athletics Marketing & Engagement Manager will develop the marketing strategy and implementation plan to support increasing attendance and ticket sales, advancing the Towson Athletics brand and enhancing the game-day environment for all 19 sports, with emphasis on ticketed sports. Marketing plan must be relevant to our current student body and enticing to the overall Greater Baltimore region. Executes comprehensive timelines on an annual basis. Coordinates both internally within athletics and externally with University Marketing & Communications to support and implement marketing plan to increase ticket sales, attendance and overall revenue generation.
Responsible for managing and implementing strategies that mobilize people to attend games, donate and otherwise support Towson Athletics in collaboration with ticket sales and operations, media relations, Tiger Sports Network, Tiger Athletic Fund, the Total Tiger Program, our corporate sponsorships partner, Student Affairs, University Marketing & Communications, individual colleges and student groups. Actively works to establish and grow relationships with community organizations in the Greater Baltimore region. Responsible for game day experience including; developing a signature fan experience through synchronized integration of marketing plan including community partners, student-groups, sponsors, donors, alumni, season-ticket holders, groups, faculty & staff. Integration of band, spirit groups and other student-led groups into game production. Coordinates all in-game marketing and promotion in coordination with sponsorship partner and other internal partners, responsible for all game scripts, video board scripts, music and timeout coordination. Coordinates and supervises public address announcer(s) and in-game production contractor; supervises cheer coach; oversees game day experience budget. Assists in graphic design needs for in-venue video board presentation, social media and select printed materials. Supervises interns and other student staff as applicable. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree and two years large scale event and/or marketing experience related to game day operations.
Leadership as demonstrated through an ability to articulate the Department of Athletics vision through to the game day experience, well organized and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
Computer proficiency, strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members
Ability to respond positively to feedback and advise corrective measures
Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and select holidays.
Adherence to NCAA rules and regulations required.
Familiarity with collegiate athletics and a top 25 media market preferred.
Proficient with InDesign and/or Adobe Creative Suite experience, video board graphics building.
