To learn more about the Haas School visit: http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/haas/about/employment.html The Office of Marketing and Communications designs and implements a comprehensive, unified marketing and communications effort for the Haas School of Business and its degree and non-degree instructional programs, research centers, public service activities, and external relations activities as well as its faculty and students. The Office is responsible for managing the Berkeley Haas brand image by providing strategic marketing and communications advice and planning to the Dean, the Senior Leadership Team, program directors, other senior staff and faculty throughout the school. The Office is also responsible for developing and managing a broad range of initiatives in marketing, communications (print, audio, video, mobile, web-based and other channels), media relations, and community relations to promote greater external understanding and recognition of the school’s contributions.

•Works with manager and clients to create, develop, and implement long- and short -term strategic communications plans and/or projects. •The Communications Manager assists the Deputy Director and Chief Marketing Officer in marketing- and communications-related projects pertaining to internal communications support. •Writes briefings and talking points for senior staff, as well as other communications •Researches, compiles, and presents data to assist with setting marketing and communications strategies •Assists with implementation of rankings and survey efforts •Promotes Haas to diverse constituencies, including those from historically marginalized communities •Manages Haas poster campaign. •Plans new content, oversees design, photography, and printing, as well as posting of the art. •Develops and manages extension of poster content through other (digital) channels. •Manages comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, and electronic communications. •The Communications Manager assists the communications team in promoting Berkeley Haas to alumni and external audiences online and through news media, social media, and periodicals. •Writes and edits news, profile, and small feature content as needed. •Assists with the daily planning and tracking of social media posts (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram). •Tracks and manages routine media requests and requests for award nominations related to student and alumni achievements, and ensures timely submission. •Tracks editorial calendars and updates media call log, news clips, reporter lists, etc. •Schedules and manages photo and video shoots for faculty and staff portraits, news articles, and social media. •Archives and tags photos in media library. •Basic video editing. •Extracts soundbites from videos for use in news articles or on social media; creates short social media videos. •Advises and consults with departmental/college administration regarding all aspects of communications including developing strong communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution. •Ensures production of high-quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints. •Identifies specific communications needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements.•Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media channels, technical aspects and requirements of various channels, and most appropriate and effective applications. •Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, such as designers, photographers, illustrators, and other vendors, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications. •Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long- and short-term strategic communications plans. •Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to target and/or broad general audiences, including those from diverse communities. •Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills. •Strong verbal and interpersonal communications skills. •Active listening and political acumen skills. •Experience publishing materials on the web and some understanding of web technology. •Experience creating and managing effective social media content. •Ability to creatively adapt the marketing and information needs of the Haas School to the web, print, social media, advertising, and multimedia. •Experience with video editing a plus. •Experience in directing, selecting, and using art (photography, graphics, video) to support a desired message. •Ability to work well within a team. Education/Training: •Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. |
